I need the option to add $25 to the cost of the event if they select a certain option. I offer 5 types of classes for each event. IF someone needs a paper copy of the certification, then there is a $25 charge. How can I accomplish this? I would envision when they register, there is an option to add the paper card to the cart.

Hi there,
Currently, we don’t support ‘add-on’ items but to do that within EE you can use an additional ticket type on the event.
So the user selects the class they want and then selects a ticket for a paper copy and pays for both in a single payment.
It is possible to create a custom question which (when selected) can add a surcharge to the registration using some custom code, see:

However not that it is intended as an example for a developer to use to customize the checkout experience and is not a ‘polished’ solution, for example once the surcharge has been added to the registration you can’t remove it again so if they opted out of the paper cert they would need to create a new registration again.

Currently they select an event date then select one of 5 classes for that date. Where would I put the optional $25 paper copy option?

Using an additional ticket? I gave 2 options above so it depends on which one you are using.
How are the events setup currently? 1 datetime with 5 tickets or multiple datetimes with multiple tickets?
Can you link me to an example event so I can take a look?

So with an additional ticket option, you would just add it as another ticket to the event – http://take.ms/3kzal
It would then show up within your other ticket options, the users selects the class they want and then the Papy copy ticket if they need them.
There is a limitation on this setup though, you can only register a single person at a time as you can’t request details for all of the additional registrants because the Papy Copy ticket will also require information is entered. So the event cannot have any additional registrant questions enabled, only the primary.
