One event on our site returns the following error in a red-outlined box when customers try to register/pay, including the HTML tags: Unrecognized response from Authorize.net: <HTML><HEAD> <TITLE>Access Denied</TITLE> </HEAD><BODY> <H1>Access Denied</H1> You don’t have permission to access “http://secure2.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll” on this server.<P> Reference #18.7fee2e17.1541097541.de67e69 </BODY> </HTML> The event: https://brazenbrush.com/events/11-09-2018-offlimits/ Eleven people have registered over the past few weeks, the most recent successful registration on Oct 25th. Today, I ran tests with my credit card on 3 other classes with no problem, but got the same error 3 times on this class. I then tried to duplicate a class that I had successfully registered for, changing the name, password, and url to match the one throwing that error and got the same error. So, the ONLY thing that makes this class different than any other class on my site is name, password and url..? I called Authorize, but they claim that error is not coming from them, and none of the tested transactions that threw the error show up on my Authorize transaction list for today either. Their customer service told me to contact the developer for my software. PLEASE HELP!! |
Hi, The verbiage within the error message, including the Reference number, is very similar to a GoDaddy hosting error when the request has triggered the server’s firewall. Is your website hosted on GoDaddy? If so you could contact them and see if they can add an exception to their firewall to allow your site to communicate with Authorize.net without any interference from the firewall. |

Just FYI, GoDaddy said they had no errors logged for my site since July, and that they never block anything going to Authorize. So I tested a bit further on my end. Back to my theory that the ONLY things different about this class from any other on my site is title/name, password (it was a private class), and URL. Title: 11.09.18 PRIVATE Fundraiser (Off Limits Gymnastics) Started test by omitting “Off Limits” from title and “offlimits” from url. Registration worked again.. OK! Added “offlimits” back into URL.. still works! So one or both of those words together is triggering an issue either through Event Espresso or GoDaddy. |
Hi, You’ll find no code within Event Espresso’s codebase that checks for the text “off limits” anywhere, so that’s probably triggered by something in the site’s firewall. |
