I know I must be missing something. I have EE4.2.1 installed, along with WP3.9. I’ve tried doing a fresh install of EE, and on building my event, it appears First Name and Last Name questions refuse to show up when attempting to register.

Any specific things I can check? I also note that Last Name does show up as an option for the Address Information question group, but neither show up in the Personal Information question group, and neither show up in any new question groups I create.

Thanks!

Oh also, plugins:
Disable Comments
Fourteen Colors
Fourteen Extended
Limit Login Attempts
WPTouch Mobile Plugin

If any of these are a problem, I’d rather remove them and make our even work.

Hi Aaron,

Your Personal Information question group should look like this:

Are you missing those system questions?

Aha. Yes it does look a bit different on mine.

Those questions appear to be for the address question group.

Are there any other question groups?

There is the two system groups, Personal and Address. Address has the following questions: Last Name Email Address Address Address2 City State/Province Country Zip/Postal Code Phone Number

which are all check-able, and not greyed out. None are checked.

There is also a test group I created called Name Preferences, which has no questions available. I haven’t created any custom questions yet.

Thanks!

I’m not sure how that happened. Were you trying to move system questions to different question groups or did you swap the names for the personal and address question group?

This is after completely wiping all EE tables and data, removing the plugin, then installing fresh, so unsure if there’s something broken with my WP install. At this point, should I be doing a complete re-install?

What Lorenzo has said so far is correct, it appears that the question groups have been recreated somehow.

The 2 core question groups need to have the right ID otherwise they will have the wrong questions showing up. Personal Info should be ID 1 and Address should be ID 2.

I can’t really say how this has happened, especially if you had wiped the tables previously.

One possible (untested) solution would be to edit the database and change the id of the question groups.

Hello! So a bit more digging on this, and I believe I’ve found the resolution.

Mysql was configured with an auto increment rate of 5 and an offset of 2, which is why everything was coming up as 2,7,12,17,etc. This appears to break things if the server is in a non-standard configuration.

I’ve gone and fixed the mysql server (we were attempting bi-directional replication) and re-installed everything from scratch.

If I could put in a bug request, make system objects like this explicitly state their ID number, if ID numbers are to be relied on. Alternatively, don’t rely on auto-increment starting at 1 and counting by 1. 🙂

Thanks for all the help on this! You guys did a fantastic job, and I feel much more confident in using EE4 with our event!
