I am looking for a simple step by step process or checklist in setting this up. Trying to sell tickets from our website for our event. I have been at this for too long with no success. Admittedly this is not my world so I need it in simple terms. I keep getting the message: “This transaction cannot be processed. The merchant’s account is not able to process transactions.” I’ve looked for answers elsewhere but not getting this solved. Please help. http://www.witnessmessiah.com is the site. |

Hi Robert, The error that you shared is reporting that there is a problem with the merchant account that is being used. Additional research on the error shows this from PayPal: The merchant account attempting the transaction is not a business account at PayPal. Check your account settings. PayPal Pro is different than PayPal.com as it requires a separate billing agreement and also has a monthly fee. Does that sound familiar? If not, then you may have a PayPal.com account and you’ll need to check with PayPal on signing up for the PayPal Pro service. Another option to consider if you do not have a PayPal Pro account is Braintree. They do not have a monthly fee and are currently offering a promotion where they will pay your credit and debit card transaction fees (https://www.braintreepayments.com/pricing). Braintree is available for Event Espresso 4 as an add-on: https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-braintree-gateway/ If you do remember registering for a billing agreement and are paying a monthly fee, then there is a problem with the new account. Please double-check with PayPal support to ensure that the account is enabled for production mode. — |

Hi Robert, The information that they shared is not entirely correct. PayPal Standard is available for Event Espresso 4 as part of the core plugin and allows you to accept credit or debit card payments and PayPal payments offsite (and then the registrant/attendee is returned to your site). Event Espresso does not decide if a PayPal account is required or optional. Guest checkout (PayPal account optional) is available to merchants in certain countries: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/account-optional If you have a business or premier account with PayPal, then you can turn it on by following the steps at the end of the page above. — |
