Hey, using EE4 fully updated. EE Multi Event Registration is also installed. Whenever I try to finalize my registration for an event it times out and does not proceed to the complete screen. It does not generate an e-mail confirmation. It does log the registration in the wp admin Event Espresso > Registrations page. You can test the issue at this event: https://georgiaeta.com/focus-on-phonics/ |

Hi there, Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Settings. What is the option ‘Generate and send all messages:’ set to? |
There’s a problem sending emails on your serve, the error being returned (eventually) is:
Which means the above options is likely set to ‘On same request’. Who hosts the email for your domain? How is your site set up to send email currently? For example, using SMTP or just through your hosts mail server? |
Wow, thanks for the fast response. It is set to ‘On same request’ It is hosted through GoDaddy. Email is sent by using the built in wp_mail. |
Looking at the go-daddy dashboard it tells me: The scheduled event, AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__generation, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended. |
Ok, so to fix your thank you page, you can set that to ‘on separate request’, that will NOT fix the email issue, but it should stop the emails preventing the registration finalizing whilst we work through the email issue itself.
The site AND email are hosted through GoDaddy? No other service like Gmail? (Just a guess as that’s the most common)
Theres multiple reasons that can happen, so let’s start with installing a plugin to see what is happening. Add this plugin to the site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/ Then to Tools -> Cron Events. Does it show any notice at the top of the page about WP_CRON being disabled? |
Ok, ‘on separate requests’ got it, does seem to allow registration but does not send out e-mails. Installed wp-crontrol and checked Tools -> Cron Events. It does not show any notice at the top of the page about WP_CRON being disabled, but there are a bunch of missed scheduled actions in yellow. |

(Just a guess as that’s the most common) The email issue is likely from the emails sending authenticated but need to know who hosts the email to advise on how to fix. If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages, what do you see? Can you add a screenshot? (Set your reply private as it’ll show users emails addresses) |

I can’t view those screenshots, but it might be easier if I just take a quick look in the admin if that’s ok? If so just send temp login details over using this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ (Note I wont be making any changes, just looking over EE messages, settings etc) |
got it, tested it to make sure the login works and it does. Not sure about the FTP settings, thanks. |
Right, ok. So your emails started failing around August 14, 2023 8:32 pm There is an issue with WP_CRON on the site and whilst that’s sort of related to the emails, its not the cause of the email issue. As GoDaddy hosts both your site and emails I’d recommend creating a ticket with them and have them check why your emails are failing. Do standard emails work from the site, such as password resets? Try installing the WP Mail Logging plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/ Trigger some emails and see if they show in the log with any errors. |
