This error is showing up in WordPress with the program updates. My license key is active, but I received this message. I only have the onw domain, so I’m not sure what’s happening. “There is a new version of Event Espresso available. View What’s New with version 3.1.31.1.P. You need a valid Site License Key to enable automatic upgrades. Your current membership level does not allow automatic upgrades on more than one domain. Please log into your account to manage your Site License Keys or purchase a support license now.” |
Hi there, Is this a single site installation of WordPress or is it on multisite? |
I am not sure what you mean: single site or multisite. We have it installed on a single server to go to friendsofminnesotaorchestra.org. We have forwarders to that site, like friendsofmnorch.org and friendsofmoa.org. We have a business license and have wordpress installed on different computers. So, it’s one site in that it’s friendsofminnesotaorchestra.org. Our site license key is up to date, I believe, too. |
Now that update error is gone and is replaced by this: There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key for this addon. However, my Site License Key was updated just last week. It tells me I need connection information, such as host, ftp login credentials. When I enter those, I get an error message. |
It sounds like you need to copy your site license key from your account here into the general settings on your site.<br> The message about needing connection information is coming from your wordpress installation and means that your web server does not have permissions to write to the file folders needed to do automatic updates. Do you get the same message when you do other updates, such as WordPress core? |
I’ve copied/pasted the site license key several times. As a matter of fact, it was even regenerated and then I copied/pasted the new one. No, I don’t get the same message with other updates. My IT person suggests it might be the domain name. He says, “The domain used to be wamso.minnesotaorchestra.org, but now is friendsofminnesotaorchestra.org … the license is probably attached to the old domain name, although it is the same server.” If you could change our records to reflect that change, then maybe I won’t get the errors anymore. |
Hi there, It may be possible that there is still a WP site at wamso.minnesotaorchestra.org and it’s still pinging our servers and still has the key there as well. What I can try is deleting the key from your account and give you a brand new key that you can enter in the License key field in Event Espresso>General settings. |
There’s a new key on your account page that you can assign to your site by entering in the new key in Event Espresso>General settings. |
When I copied the new site license key, it noted that it was “not active.” Is that okay? |
This is now the error I see: “There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key for this addon.” I’m going in circles. Please fix! |
Hi there, The key will say not active until it’s been correctly entered into the license key field in Event Espresso>General settings on your site. You’ll need to make sure that there are no leading or trailing blank spaces from copying the key. I checked the logs in the database and we haven’t seen any API requests from your site since April 8th. Did you try to enter the new key in today? |
Yes, I did try to enter the key today. |
Thanks. Looks like it’s finally working and I was able to update the plugin. Hurray! |
