I am having two issues with a previous install of EE Version 3.1.36.4.P. ISSUE ONE: ISSUE TWO: I had both of these things working a few months ago, but my client let their cc on file with paypal expire and i’m having to set everything back up. I, however, don’t understand why this would effect my ability to post new events. Thanks! |
Hi Sarah, The little message inside the Payments options that says you need an SSL cert is likely happening because the home page of your site redirects from https://www.alrba.org to http://www.alrba.org. It looks like https is working on other pages though, so that should be okay. With issue #2, can you let us know what the shortcode is that you’re trying to use? |
So I can just ignore the “error” message, then? As for the second issue – I have used all of the following: [ESPRESSO_REG_PAGE event_id=11] Thanks! |
Which error message are you referring to? With the second issue: I went in and straightened out the shortcodes and Event Espresso page settings because they were incorrectly set up. The register page now has [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. If you need to change the shortcode on the /register page, you will need to create a new page, place the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on it, then set the “main registration page” setting in Event Espresso > General Settings to that new page. The shortcodes that you listed need to be adjusted a bit if you want to use those. Which did you intend on using? |

I suppose it isn’t so much an error message as it’s in that red box. “Attention: A valid SSL Certificate is required on your website in order to process payments using this gateway!” is the message I was referring to. I can just ignore this? Ideally, I would like to put the shortcode for registering for the past presidents’ reception at the bottom of https://www.alrba.org/past-presidents-reception-dinner/. This way, I can keep the event descriptions up even once the event has past by removing said shortcode. |
You’re not really ignoring the message because you do have an SSL Certificate installed on your website. You can use this shortcode for that event: [SINGLEEVENT single_event_id=”past-presidents-reception-and-dinner-6-5303a333f3442″] |

Hi Sarah, One other thing that I’m seeing that should be addressed is when I go to view the events from the admin it’s redirecting the main registration page from https to http. It does not look like the CCS-HTTPS plugin is working correctly. We typically recommend using the WordPress https plugin to secure the registration pages. There’s a guide in our documentation that outlines how to secure them: |
I have uploaded and configured WordPress HTTPS, but on the page view there is no “force SSL” box to check. I tried installing Better WP Security (and as usual, it has screwed my .htaccess file) and now I can’t log into the site….. great. |
Hi Sarah, Can you remove the better WP security modifications to the .htaccess file? |
I have deleted wp security from the back end as well as the .htaccess file so that I now have access to the site again. I still, however, am not seeing the FORCE SSL option in the page editor. |

I need people to be able to register for more than one option under one event. Why is the user unable to select only one type of ticket? This previously wasn’t an issue. People need to be able to sign up for dinner tickets and the golf tourney. |
It looks like this: If you need to set it up so people can select more one type of ticket within event, you can consider updating to Event Espresso 4 or if you stay on Event Espresso 3 you’ll need to redirect the registrations through Multi Event Registration (which is likely how you had it set up before). There’s documentation on how to redirect the registrations through Multi Event Registration here: |

I thought that might be the option, but I wasn’t sure. Thanks for that! When I use this code: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”11″ anchor=” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Redirecting to cart…”] I am get the following message: Despite the fact that I have deleted my registration from the system. |
Hi Sarah, Can you check the page that has the cart link shortcode and make sure that page is secured? If the cart link page isn’t secure, but the cart page is secured it will show an error like the one you’re reporting. |

After deleting my cookies, everything is in working order except when I use the [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] shortcode. The page that I am directed to shows both of my open events. Is there anyway to make it only show one event? Thanks! |
Hi Sarah, Can you post a link to the page that has the [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] page so we can take a look? |
Both the past presidents’ reception and the 2014 annual convention have [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] https://www.alrba.org/past-presidents-reception-dinner/ Just in case, here is the URL for the page I am being taken to when I click on the CART_LINK: |
Hi Sarah, I checked on this and each link is only adding the one event to the cart that it’s supposed to. Can you try going to: http://www.alrba.org/registration-cancelled/ Which will clear your cart/session, then try adding an event to the cart again? |
After deleting my cookies again, everything seems to be good to go. Thanks so much for your help getting this fixed. |
You’re welcome Sarah. |
