Hi – I’m having Abandoned registration problems (but only for certain people) and I don’t know what’s happening. Currently running the latest EE4.

After an update in late Jan/early Feb, it seems people are getting registered as “payment pending” when they’re not trying to register.

And some people are getting registered twice – once with a “complete” or paid registration, and then again under the “payment pending” or “abandoned” transaction status.

Any ideas on what’s happening? I do have Paypal Pro auto-return enabled but to the home page, not to the registration page. But I’m assuming this isn’t the reason because the problems I’m having occurs only with certain people.

Hi Ray,

An Abandoned transaction happens when a user has selected a payment method (lets say PayPal) and then simply never returns to the site. If they get to PayPal and close the window before paying, that transaction is Abandoned.

After an update in late Jan/early Feb, it seems people are getting registered as “payment pending” when they’re not trying to register.

I’m not sure how they would have a registration at all if they hadn’t have tried to register?

And some people are getting registered twice – once with a “complete” or paid registration, and then again under the “payment pending” or “abandoned” transaction status.

Are you sure these users have not tried to register once, abandoned the registration then registered again and successfully paid?

When auto return is enabled on your PayPal site, it will use the return_url that Event Espresso passes within the transaction to return the user to the site (overriding whatever is set within the field in your account), Auto return must be enabled on the account for us to do this and to enable it you must input a URL. We recommend setting this to the Transactions page of your site.

Do you have Payment Data Transfer enabled on your PayPal account? Set within Website Selling Preferences. If so unless you need this for another service disabled it.
