Hi guys 1. I tried to translate EventEspresso with the plugin LocoTranslate. There are lots of words/phrases, I can’t translate. Specially button-texts and info-texts. 2. I tried to logg into GlotPress and I tried it several times with my eMail/Password (including resetting password) I use at EventEspresso – but without any chance to logg-in successfully…. Is there any possibility to translate the texts (Buttons and info-Texts) of the events: https://www.skydesign.ch/neudikids_neu/events/fruehlingskurs-2020/ Thanks for your help! |
Hi Cristina,
Can you give me an example please so I can investigate? How are you generating the ‘template’ in LocoTranslate, is it scanning the source are are you pulling the POT file from the language repo?
The GlotPress project is separate from this site, have you registered an account there? If you let me know your username/email (mark your reply private if you add it here) I’ll check into this for you.
Pretty much everything in Event Espresso is translatable and if it’s not, we’ll get it fixed so that it is. Button texts etc are all already translatable however many of them are broken down into smaller sections, for example. “Add to Event Cart” That’s actually 2 strings: We do this for multiple reasons, one of which is to try and return the number of strings needed to translate, so if we had: ‘Add to Event Cart’ You would need to translate each of those individually to change ‘Event Cart’ to something else, using a place holder and passing the translated string in, means once you’ve translated ‘Event Cart’ to something else, it updates all 3 automatically. |

Hi Tony I deleted Loco Translate and installed GlotPress. So….lots of things on my website are in English instead of German, e.G. all the words during registration-process as well the notices and the button-texts. If you go trough a registration-process, you can see all the words and phrases in english…these should all be in German: https://www.skydesign.ch/neudikids_neu/events/fruehlingskurs-2020/ Hope you can find a solution for my problem…thank you so much. |
You installed GlotPress? You don’t install GlotPress to use translations, what exactly did you install?
The snippet will work, but I’ll need to see the code to see what is going on… however, snippets aren’t manageable for lots of translations, the PO/MO files are best, so let’s get those working. We can investigate this further after that if needed. Can you post full details of what you done so far please? |

Hi Tony Thanks for your help. OK, look, I have one example: Here you can see the Button “HINZUFÜGEN ZU WARENKORB” Another thing on this site is: If you go to mobile-view, the table is too big…is there any possibillity to make the table smaller, so that it fits with mobiles? Thanks for your help |
Ok, but that text is already translated, meaning the translations are working but you want to replace them with something else. Can you respond to my previous reply please, we can get this fixed up but I have no idea where you are up to at this point so please reply to my questions above: https://eventespresso.com/topic/translation-does-not-work-well/#post-304007
Sure, but let’s get the translation issue fixed and then we’ll revisit this, you’ll likely just need some additional CSS. |

Hi Tony Sorry for mixing the topics. Please have a look which texts are most important and I don’t know where / how to translate: As already mentioned, I tried to translate with “LOCO TRANSLATE” (Plugin) and with “SNIPPETS” (Plugin) – both where not finding the words/sentences. Thanks for your help. |
Do you have FTP access to the site? I can guide you through using PO/MO files using POEdit but you’ll need to upload manually to a location on the server. LocoTranslate has changed a lot since I last looked into it so it will be quicker with the above. The ‘Snippets’ plugin often causes issues with load order and I don’t recommend using it for translations, you can create your own plugin and add snippets of code into that if needed (we have documentation on creating your own custom functions plugin but as mentioned PO/MO files are the best for multiple translations). |

Hi Tony Thank you so much for your reply. I try to use PO/MO files and I’ll read first the documentation how to use it. Thank you! |
We don’t usually close threads unless the user marks it resolved themselves, however, the forum will close it automatically after 2 weeks of inactivity. Just to your working with the latest PO file, use this link: Which is a direct link to here: https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/de/event-espresso-de_de/ There is a export link at the bottom, the above sets that automatically and downloads the PO for you. Make sure the filename is Open that in POEdit. Now you search for your strings to translate. We have some docs on using POEdit here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-translate-event-espresso/#choose-a-translation-tool Then when you save, you’ll generate a .mo file in the same location as the .po Again, make sure that is named Place that in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ |

Hi Tony I just want to translate one sentence, but in the PO-file it was already translated correct. On the website (frontent), the sentence is in english (wrong) insted of german. Please see the printscreens for your info: Thank you so much for your help. |
Have you confirmed if your custom translation file (th MO file) is actually loading? Did you use the PO file to generate a MO file and then place that in |

Hi Tony I translated the words and phraseds on the .po-file and generated .mo-file and loaded both files trough FTP to the wordpress-site. Thank you so much for your great support and phenomenal guiding – once again!!! Have a nice weekend |
You’re most welcome, I’m glad you got it working 🙂 |
