There is a non-profit group in my town, and they are re-doing their website. Their group helps special needs children and their parents by organizing play dates and special events, and providing a safe place to play.
One thing they have is called a Toy Library. They have a number of toys designed for special needs children, and they’d like to have a reservation system setup for it. So, there would be a gallery that could be viewed on the site – toys would be broken out by category – and if a toy was available, a parent could click on that toy and reserve it by filling out a form. If a toy was already reserved but a parent wanted it, they could fill out a form to be put on a waiting list for that toy.
Is this something EE could be setup to handle? Instead of an event, it’s a toy, which would be “booked” (i.e., reserved) for a specific length of time. And the event (i.e., toy) might be full (i.e., checked out).
Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso. This is a great question. I don’t see why this could not be done with some customization. As you stated, the toys would not necessarily be events, so there would be a little bit of modifying of the text there (easily done). Also, the way the dates are attached to events is something to think about. The event system is driven by dates, so when you setup an event (toy), you will specify what dates it will be available. If each of the toys are going to be reserved separately for a day or week at a time, you will need to set up separate events for each of these. Does this make sense?
Let me know if you have more questions.
We look forward to working with you.
