EE4 does not have the option of a deposit, correct. Is there a workaround.
Let’s say somebody want’s to book a double room tour with us.
The double room cost is $2650.
Necessary deposit $500 to make a reservation.
Can we then manually change the reservation so it states that they need to pay $2650, minus the $500 already paid?

Appreciate your help, and hope for options. As I saw, lots of people try to find a solution for this.
Maybe there is one already?

Hi, could you take a look at this workaround?

That would only be for non online payments, right?
As you well know, we all want to make life and payments for our clients, easier. This workaround is way more complicated then what I used to have. A simple paypal button with options.
But do I hear right that EE is working on a solution?
Thanks for your help.

Hi, that workaround would also work but the PayPal button would not be able to automatically update the existing transaction in Event Espresso.

Sorry, but I don´t understand what you mean.
Asking clients to send checks is not what we want to do.

Hi, you could request specific payment amounts through a PayPal button just as you described. However, this would not notify Event Espresso about the transaction.

Lorenzo, I am aware of that. The Paypal button was my way of doing it before EE. What I try to find out is if we are going to get a solution to have people be able to make a deposit to a total ticket cost.
What I also asked if we can manually change a registration to the end ticket cost, even though they only pay a deposit at the time of registration. That way we see what still needs to be paid, and can send invoices.

Hi, the ticket cost itself can’t be changed but you can apply a negative payment to increase the amount that is due.

Negative payment in EE4 will be done like a refund? Just don´t send the client a copy. Do I understand this right?

Hi, let me prepare an example for you with some screenshots and I’ll update this support post after.

Hi,

Here is the example:

I have a registration that has a balance of $11:

Then I use the apply refund option to apply a negative refund:

After applying it, the balance is changed to $15 due to the negative refund amount of $4.

Then we can resend a payment reminder and they’ll see the updated amount that is due:

Here are some other tips:

When applying the negative refund, be sure to add a note like “Event Admin — Adjust balance due,” then do not send payment messages and the registration status should be set to pending payment.

The other method for handling this is to create two events:

The first event will handle the deposit.

Then the second will have the balance due.

Event Name – Deposit Only
Event Name – Remaining Balance Due

Since you’ll know the registrants that have paid, you can use the newsletter (batch email option) to send a link to the second event to collect the balance.

That batch email option can be found in the bottom of the registrations overview screen.

Wow, that makes sense, and it works perfectly.
Many thanks for your patience.
