I have a new installation of EE 4 and am having difficulties in assigning rights to an events administrator. When an events administrator logs in, the toolbar appears at the top of the page, but clicking on the links (i.e., add new) results in a redirect. If you cannot help, if you can, please give a suggestion on where I might look for a solution?

Hi Maureen,

I have a new installation of EE 4 and am having difficulties in assigning rights to an events administrator.

‘Event administrator’ can mean different things here.

So to clarify does this user have a role of ‘Events Administrator’, ‘Administrator’ or something else?

If the user goes to {domain}/wp-admin/, what do they see?

The role is Events Administrator. When logged in, the WP toolbar shows across the top, including the events espresso menu. The menu drops down, but selecting anything on the menu redirects back to the profile page of the user.

Ok, thank you.

If the user goes to {domain}/wp-admin/, what do they see?

It sounds like something else is redirecting non-administrators away from the admin.

When anyone logs in, be it administrator, subscriber, member or events administrator, they are immediately taken to their profile page. As administrator, I have the toolbar across the top which I use to access the dashboard.

That’s not default WordPress behaviour so whatever you are using to do that is also redirecting the edit link in the toolbar for non-admins.

Looking at your site it looks like you are using ultimate member, is there an option within that to not redirect specific roles?

Eureka! There is an option in UM to control access to the admin toolbar and accessing Wp=admin. Seems to be working now. Thanks for the hand holding!

No problem, I’m glad you found it 🙂
