Hi EventEspresso Support Team, I have the issue, that when the attendee presses the resend notification email he gets the notification email multiple times. As example, I press it once, I get 48 emails Can you please help me fix that issue? Thanks a lot and best regards, Pascal |

Just a short addition: I can provide a user and url to test, but not in the public forum. Thanks and best regards! |

Hi there, You can fix the missing recipient address by going into the Event Espresso > > Messages > Message Templates editor and make sure that the emails that have something in their To: field have valid shortcodes that parse to email addresses in those email fields. In most cases, any email that you send to a registrant should have the |

Hi Josh, |

Was there another issue that you thought this would solve? |

Hi Josh, |

September 23, 2016 at 10:48 am I already posted a solution to that: https://eventespresso.com/topic/too-many-notification-emails/#post-218018 |

Hi Josh, |
Hi Pascal, Who is your web host (hosting provider)? I’ve seen this issue occur from caching services. Have any caching services (e.g. WP super cache) been added to the website recently? — |
September 24, 2016 at 10:04 am Hi Lorenzo, On the dev system the cache is disabled, on production system it’s enabled. I get the error on both servers. The provider is a small hosting provider in my country. |
That’s actually expected because the primary attendee is still an attendee and should get both a primary attendee email and a regular attendee email. With regards to the extra emails getting sent out, can you check your server’s PHP logs for sendmail related errors at the times these emails were generated and sent? |

September 26, 2016 at 11:34 am Let’s try it again: |

September 26, 2016 at 12:27 pm Hi Josh, |
So when you get 6 of the same message, does that message show as sent 6 x in the Messages Activity table or does it show 1 time there? |
Hi Josh, |
That doesn’t really answer my question. So when you look at those 40 messages in the Message Activity table that all were sent at the same date and time, are they the same message to the same email address, or were they sent each to a unique email address? Also, do they have an email address in the From column? |
Hi Josh, In the FROM column, I don’t see any email address, only the company name. I hope this helps, if you want to have a look at it yourself, I can post the credentials on a private manner. Please let me know. Perhaps it’s easier for you to see it, instead of asking the questions and me trying to answer them. |
To clarify, it’s always the registration confirmation message, that is being sent. Just in the different contexts, such as primary attendee, recipient and event admin. |
That’s causing the problem. What happens is, an email can and will send if there’s an address in the To field. However if there isn’t an email address in the from field, no confirmation of being received can be made, so some email servers will resend again, and again. So your fix is simple. You need to get an email address included in the From field. You can either place one directly in the message templates From field, or put the [CO_EMAIL] Shortcode there. Then, you go to EE > General Settings > Primary Contact email and verify there is a valid email address in that field. |
Hi Josh, |
Can you try updating to the very latest version of the WP User integration add-on? There’s some code included in that version that should stop any additional message processing from that My Events page. |
