Time Zone issue

We have our WP timezone set to Chicago (not UTC -5) and don’t seem to have a problem in other areas of our site. For instance we have a countdown timer that is part of ‘Composium – Visual Composer Extensions Add-on’ which works properly in several areas.

Our Event times are set for Sept 9 at 12pm to Sept 11 at 6pm. However, when testing a ticket purchase we noticed on the ticket it says 7am and 1pm. Exactly 5 hours off.

I looked through the other threads on this topic. We used to have The events calendar but it was deactivated before installing EE. I went ahead and deleted it as well. Still showing the same result.

Any there suggestions?

Hi Adam,

This usually happens when another plugin (or sometimes the theme) uses date_default_timezone_set() to change the timezone on the server.

If you temporarily de-activate the countdown plugin, edit one of your events and check the time is correct then update the event and test a registration does it show correctly?

EE is reliant on the timezone being set as GMT and then applying the correct offset based on your timezone settings (the way WordPress expects it to be done).

It doesn’t need to be a calendar plugin, it can literally be ANY plugin that uses dates. We’ve seen site statistic plugins use it, calendar plugins, post expiration plugins and so on.
