Dear Event Expresso staff,

I am looking to potentially add Event Expresso to a festival website of a client, though have a few questions first.

Does the mobile iPhone app require mobile / internet reception to scan the ticket codes?

Can you have multiple scanners working at once on ticket entry? If so, does each app instance update when tickets are scanned online or is there a method of updating the apps?

Is there any alternative to the iPhone scanner available?

Can multiple types earlybird tickets be set up with Event Expresso (tickets available at a discounted price until a certain date)?

Can different types of tickets be set up (ticket for 3 day pass, ticket for 7 day pass, ticket for kids 3 day pass, etc).

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards,

Dominic

1) Yes, the app must be connected in order to check-in attendees.

2) Because the app is connected to the internet, the it can connect to the Event Espresso database which checks and tracks check-ins. If a ticket has been scanned then it will give the second scan (regardless of the location or a second app) an error saying that it’s invalid.

3) You could look into an app called qrious (http://qrious.com).

4) The ticket has to be associated with the corresponding date/time of the event. As long as the event date and time occurs then the ticket is valid.

Does that all make sense?

Hey Garth,

Thank you for your quick reply.

The festival site will have no reception, thus the system will have to be offline. Is there any possible method or alternative that would allow scanning offline?

Thanks for your info, I appreciate it.

Hi Dominic,

Unfortunately at this time there is no option for offline scanning.

Dear Event Espresso staff,

Upon selling a ticket barcode (seperate unique identifier) serial number and QR code is generated for a ticket; we would like to store that information in our database, for later use in ticket reconciliation and at the gate entrace validation. We would like to store all customer information (not the payment details) in our database, including the barcode and potentially ticket serial number.

We’ll be building a scanning solution (without internet) for validation at the entrance gate. Do you have anything you would recommend?

Is the database of information stored on a cloud facility? Can we take a download from that cloud so we can run on our local machine.

Additionally, if you would like to discuss this in-depth over email, I can do that.

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards,

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

While I don’t have any recommendations for another scanning tool, I can confirm that your event data is stored on your server, we don’t host any of your data. So you can migrate your data to a local machine.
