I need Registration system for a kids programming club and camps. wwwCodingKidsClub.com It is a wp site. We run after school classes …. Pretty straight forward. List of events and times I notice the ticket metaphor being used in the sandbox. Can this be changed to something user definable? The customer does not think they are buying a ticket. They are registering one of their children for an after school club , summer camp, or other kiddo type event. So looking to tweak it. One seat per reg form. Something like “attendee” “student” instead of ticket. Thanks in advance. John |
Hi John, It turns out that text strings can be changed by means of a translation file or a translation function. We have some published information on how to re-word the text strings in Event Espresso here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/ |

Thanks Josh, I think I can handle that. I have been banging around on the decaf version and think it’s the right product, but a full version. A few questions: I found this sample registration page (link below) when looking for help on setting up a simple class registration: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-run-class/ The Cookery for Beginners example at the bottom of this page is pretty much exactly what I need. There will only be one person per registration so there is no need to display QTY. Would prefer to have the layout in the example “Cookery Class” link above. Clean and simple. I also need custom questions on the form. Parents Name I know that is in the paid product. So I am looking for just a tad bit of guidance. Should I be looking at EE3 or EE4? If so which version? Happy to just buy it now and get hooked up with someone as registrations are coming in and the existing plug-in is kind of clunky at best leaving me wishing I had another week to test before being live. This is the EE form I created but have not messed with translations. Looking to streamline it a bit first and/or get on the right version before getting dirt under the nails. http://codingkidsclub.com/events/ Thank you in advance for you help. |

Hi, The screenshot you mentioned is from EE3. Personally I would suggest EE4, purely from the basis that it is the latest product and being actively worked on. However, from your needs, either would be suitable as it seems you just need a basic registration form. The personal licence of either version should be suitable for you, just check out the addons for the version you want to go with, because if there is anything you need you might want to pick up the Business (EE3) or Everything (EE4) licences as they are the best value for money. |

Thanks Dean, I would prefer the most recent release so it sounds like EE4 is it. Just to confirm, I can create the basic reg form with no ticket details as was shown in the EE3 example? I ask because I tried Decaf and was able to turn off ticket selector but when I did the link to the registration process flow also went away. So I was able to display a class with no ticket but it would not allow people to register. Example is here: http://codingkidsclub.com/events/introduction-programming/ I will see if I can get it to work in the Test Drive as well. Thanks John |

Could not get the basic (no tickets needed) registration to work on the EE4 Test Drive site. Not sure if it is me or if the TestDrive instance has some limits on it. I suspect it is me. If I turn off Ticket Selector I lose the Registration button. If I can confirm I can create the simple form along the lines of the one in the EE3 example I would be happy to buy the license and some support tokens to get things going. Really hoping I can do what I guess is Ticket-less Registrations. |
I am pretty sure EE4 will work for your needs. If you don’t want people to select the number of tickets, you can just set the “Maximum number of tickets allowed per order for this event:” setting, in the right side column of the event editor to ‘1’. Thanks Seth – I tried that but it does not get me there. http://demoee.org/blog/events/testing-my-event/ I do need to be able to register more than one person sometimes. The use case is a parent with more than one child that he/she wants to register for an event. The very simple reg form that was on the EE blog kind of nailed it so that’s what I am trying to create. Is there anyway to get a 24 hour license to either EE3 or 4 so I can bang away on it? This is the last thing on my list and hoping to check it off! OR As I think EE should be able to do what I need can I buy some time from someone and do a quick POC. And if it works I will buy the license? Happy to pay for one of your pre-sales folks time in order to knock this out. Thanks in advance. -John |
Hi John, If you need to be able to register more than one person at a time in EE4, then you will need to be able to use the ticket selector. There isn’t a way to remove that step from the process. |

I bought EE3 today after confirming my requirements are best met with 3 not 4. How long will it take to get the license key? I can not download EE3 in my account. It only presents me with the option to download EE3 Light. Thank you. -John |
