Hi there,

May I ask what you mean by discounts on tickets? What are you looking to do and how are you wanting to apply a ‘discount’?

If you mean temporary promotions or a way to use a code for a discount you would need the Promotions add-on.

Within core there are ‘price modifiers’ you can apply to a ticket, those can be either a surcharge or a discount but they apply to all sales of that ticket and show up in the price breakdown.

Which you use depends on the specific needs for your discounts but if you can add more details on what you are trying to achieve I can see what we have available.

Based on what you just said, then I am assuming we need the promotions add-on.

That’s correct, the feature you are requesting is the promotions add-on feature, we don’t have the functionality within core.

Without it, is there a way we can issue a free ticket instead?

Note on the front end, well at least not without creating a free ticket that anyone can purchae

You can add a registration through the admin and set that registration to Approved without payment, Approved registrations apply to the sold values of the event.

But I’m assuming you want to give a code to a user to allow them to purchase a ticket for free, using the that code, in which case, yes you need the Promotions add-on as that is what adds that feature.

One thing to note however is the promotions add-on adds promotions to events, not specific tickets, meaning if you apply a promotion to Event A a user can use that promotion code if they register onto any ticket within that event and if they select multiple tickets, the promotion applies to the whole event rather than the individual tickets.
