Just migrated staging to live (events.ahvna.org to ahvna.org) and had the license reset. Added license, updated paypal to live but am getting this message on every attempt to register for an event. Is there a “checklist” to follow to debug this message? It seems pretty general with no specifics to guide me.

Hi there,
The ‘This registration step could not be completed.’ error is a catch-all error, it’s shown when EE did not receive a proper error (or maybe even a response at all) from the request it is processing.
However, looking over your site I can see you are using the WP User integration add-on and version 4.10.33. We had a couple of reports of a possible issue with that version and applied a fix to v4.10.34.p to prevent that.
Can you update to the latest version and see if you get the same error?
If you don’t see an update for Event Espresso on the site then go to Event Espresso -> General Settings and just hit save to force an update check.
The update should then show in Dashboard -> Plugins.
