The registration system was working perfectly ok a few days ago, and now every time someone tries to finalize the registration, they get the “This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh…” message. It looks like it’s actually completing the registration since I can see their information in the backend of things, but they still get this message instead of the confirmation page.
I don’t have a plugin cache, and I tried turning off the plugins. Any ideas??? I actually just upgraded to Event Espresso 4.4.4 from a previous version (Espresso 4.4.1 I think) just to see if this would fix it, but it didn’t. HELP!
An Internal Server Error can happen if the server is running low on memory, but there may also be some other errors being thrown. Have you looked at the PHP error logs? If you do not have logging set up, WordPress has a built in debugging logger you can set up by adding a few lines of code to your wp-config.php file. I recommend logging the errors instead of displaying them since this is a live site. Here’s a gist that shows how to set up WP_DEBUG this way:
Along with that, you check with HostMonster support to see if they’ve made any changes to the server since a few days ago when Event Espresso was working as expected.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for the input. I went ahead and tried all of those suggestions. The PHP errors pointed to an issue with the messages. I just reset those and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks again!
