Hi there
I have an issue with the payment. For my event, there is only the payment option “invoice” activated. Normally, it works perfectly. Now you won’t be able to finish the registration. In the payment step, you get the error msg “This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page…”. I went to the payment settings, deactivated the “invoice” and got a WP Critical Error Message.

Now i got a Fatal error, when i try to open a event. I thought i might be connectet with php8. So i change to php 7, but there is no differents.

Hi there,
The issue here is due to PHP8 and the translations in use on the site.
Do you have custom translation files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/?
Side note Event Espresso (and also WordPress itself) does not fully support PHP8.1.X

Hello, I used the standard german language pack. I have now switched to english and now everything works again. PHP I switched back to 7.4.33. Will there be a fix for the German language package? Thank you very much.

Strange, the line numbers don’t match up for a translated string.
Within EE_Message.class.php the closest string to translate is:
The %1$s message type is not a valid message type for the %2$s messenger so it will not be sent.
But we don’t have a translation for that string:

Grab the latest translations from here:

Save that as event-espresso-4-de_DE.mo
Place it in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages
(If you have other language fils for EE there, download them locally to back them up and remove them from the server)
Now grab the PO:
https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/de/event-espresso-de_de/export-translations/?format=po
Save that as event-espresso-4-de_DE.po
Place it in the above location so that you know what your MO file was generated from)
Now switch to german again, does it work?
