It seems that Event Espresso is designed with conference registrations in mind, which makes for a somewhat awkward interface for my intention of selling tickets to live theatre shows.
I saw that one developer created custom template for “Anna’s Bay” that created a more traditional box office style site, but he admitted it was a lot of work tweaking templates. (also, that site has no active events, so I can’t really see the result)
Does anybody have any tips or better yet, customized templates, that might help me in converting the ticket-buying layout?
What are you looking for? Event Espresso has been used in a wide variety of ways, including theatre tickets. That was actually the original intent for the Seating Chart add-on (though it’s been just as often used for other, non-theatre seating charts).
Are you looking for advise on how to customize the registration pages, custom development for making changes to the template files for your venue, or…?
I discovered that the Multiple Event Registration add-on, combined with disabling event registration forms, gets me a big step in the right direction.
I guess one big distinction between the two business models is that theatre tickets have no interest in the idea of “attendees”. We don’t care who is sitting in the seat! We just need to collect customer information once at checkout time.
It would be great to have an event settings somewhere to disable the collection of attendee personal information. (which would cause developer headaches, since I’m sure that info is used a lot elsewhere)
