The Venue have unlinked from every existing Event

Good afternoon,

I have just updated the Event Espresso plugin and all of the events I have setup have lost their venue association.

The box to select the venue is just blank.

I’m having to go through every event one by one to restore them. Are you aware of this problem following the latest update?

There is also some backend issues I can see. The font/buttons seem very big and the text box with the event description for example is not completely visual within the frame.

The excerpt file I have is the backend is a tiny box which again now only displays some of the text and you have to drag the cursor bar to be able to read the copy.

That should say the excerpt field not file.

Hi there,

Did you update straight from 4.10.46 to 5.0.3 or a version before that?

We found an issue with venue migrations in 5.0.0-5.0.2 and have it fixed in 5.0.3.

However, if you already updated to 5.0.0 and ran the migration there, updating to 5.0.3 won’t fix it itself but we have a plugin which can force the migration to run again within 5.0.3 and fix your venues.

I think it must have gone from 4.10.46 to 5.0.3 as this is the first time I had noticed a very different layout in the backend of the plugin.

Hmm, strange I’ve not had any reports of issues with Venues on 5.0.3

Let’s retrigger the migration on your site to confirm that worked as expected (rerunning the 5.0.0 migration doesn’t have any negative effects so it’s safe to do)

On your site install the plugin from HERE.

Download it, upload through Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin.

On activation it will put EE into maintenance mode and prompt you to run the migration, like this:

Backup your Database and click to continue, follow the steps…

After thats ran, are your venues set up correctly on the events?

Is the box is blank how are you reselecting them?

Or do you mean the dropdown shows no selection but you can then select a venue?

Yeah I got that when I clicked on it, but it works if you repeat it or copy and paste.

Hmm, very strange.

Do you have PHPMyAdmin access? I’d like to take a look at the DB if possible?

The others I’ll check into but it looks like you are using the legacy editor, try switching to the new Advanced editor.

Event Espresso -> Events -> Default Settings.

Set ‘Activate Advanced Editor?’ to ‘Advanced Editor’ and save.

Then refresh the event editor.

If you re-run the EE5.0.0 migration, does it show records are updated?

I can see the values for the old venue table are set within the DB so it’s odd that some would update and others not.

How did you force the EE migration to re-run, I can’t see the plugin I added above on your site.

Hi Tony, I initially ran it on a copy of the website which was on ukweddingevent.co.uk as I had manually already changed over 20 events, just my selecting the right venue for each one on the correct domain theukweddingevent.co.uk

Anyway, I have now ran the update again on the proper domain and all of the venues are now assigned so the migration appears to work.

However, the layout is still messed up in the backup and it has changed the layout for aspects on the front end too.

Yeah, there is a bug in version 5.0.0-5.0.2 which prevents the migration from functioning correctly. If you go from 4.10.XX to v5.0.3 directly the migration runs as it should, but if you have already updated to 5.0.0-2 then you need to update to 5.0.3 and force the migration to re-run using another plugin.

However, the layout is still messed up in the backup and it has changed the layout for aspects on the front end too.

Currently investigating this.
