Hi there,

I am currently using EE Version 3.1.36.5.P. However, EE4 was briefly installed and then removed before installing EE3. I think this might be the reason why the Thank You page displays the shortcode [ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU] rather than [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS].

http://beatingfamine.com/thank-you/

As a consequence when I send a reminder email to complete the registration, the the payment_url links to the above (blank) page that does not allow to complete the payment.

Would changing the shortcode fix the problem?
How can I change the shortcode?

Thanks

Hi,

You are correct, the shortcodes in EE3 and EE4 are different.

Please just edit the Thank You page (it’s a normal page found under the Pages menu) and replace the ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU shortcode with [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS].

Hi Dean,

thanks for your reply.

When I go to edit the page the shortcode does not appear anywhere. That’s why I haven’t been able to change it so far. The website uses Advanced Custom Fields: not sure this is any relevant but what puzzles me is that even though the page is now completely blank (no ACF rows created) the shortcode still appears in the front end, apparently out of nowhere.

Would it be possible to make the changes on the template file?

I am happy to send you a screenshot of the edit page or provide access to the backend if that would help.

Cheers

Hi,

Editing the Template files wouldn’t be worthwhile in this situation.

Hi,

Thanks for the login details. Everything looks ok, but the Thank you page itself looks very odd – http://take.ms/6r3j0

While I can’t say for certain but I think whatever is causing the page editor to look like that might be affecting the plugin at the registration stage.

Viewing the page is showing the core shortcode, when it should show as a blank page (if viewed directly).

Hi Dean,

thank you for looking into it. Are you able to suggest the next steps to troubleshoot and hopefully fix the problem?

Hi,

Do you know what is causing the Thank you page (when you edit it) to look like that? My gut feeling is it’s a plugin or theme with some sort of Builder system.

You could try disabling that plugin or swapping to a different theme to see if that is indeed the cause.

Hi Dean,

I have identified the WordPress SEO plugin to be the cause of the odd way the page looked. After deactivating it I was able to change the shortcode to [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS]. Now the shortcode is no longer visible on the front end of the Thank You page, but the page is still completely blank. When I send an email to remind a registrant to complete the payment he/she is redirected through [payment_url] to a blank page. I am not quite sure what the page is supposed to look like but I would have expected that it would display payment options.

Can you please advise?

Hi Dean,

I just wanted to add that I had to reactivate the WordPress SEO plugin because it affected my event registration page making it completely blank (event description and registration form were gone). The page is http://beatingfamine.com/event-registration/?ee=1 m

I have tried to add the short code [ESPRESSO_REG_PAGE event_id=1] but it displayed the registration form into a small box (difficult to navigate with the scrolling bar) rather than in a full page. I find very odd that one page of Event Espresso doesn’t work when this third-party plugin is activated while another one needs it to be activated in order to work properly! I hope you can help.

Very odd. Have you tried disabling WordPress SEO and then “flushing” the permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks > pressing save button ?

The issue with the small box when using [ESPRESSO_REG_PAGE event_id=1] is because when copied from a page it will have copied the PRE tags along with it (you can check this by viewing the page via the TEXT tab). Stick the shortcode in Notepad and then copy and paste it from there, it will then be clean to use. Or just type it in.

Thanks Dean, the issue with the small box is solved. Unfortunately the main problem is not. The thank you page is still blank after flushing the permalinks. In fact, all 4 Event Espresso default pages (Thank You, Transactions, Registration Cancelled and Registration Checkout) seem to be blank.

Hi Silvio,

Your event listing page is showing a single event instead of a list of events.

Could you try trashing all of the Event Espresso 3 WordPress Pages and then permanently deleting them?

Then create the pages again and assign the correct shortcodes to them.

Then go to General Settings –> Page Settings and ensure that each page is set correctly. This area also has each required shortcode so you can copy and paste them into the new WordPress Pages.
