Can I drop the CSS file in my child theme so it won’t overwrite when the plugin gets an update? I can’t seem to get it to work.

I’d like to make the table a specific color

You can actually override the CSS by adding CSS to your child theme.

Before you do that though, you can change the shortcode to:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE footable=false]

and the table will inherit its colors from the theme’s html table styles. Which will make it easier to override the styles.
