I have created some events, assigned them to categories, and pasetd the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=name] on my new page to have the events displayed as a table, but nothing shows up. I have not published any event yet, I am only working through the “save draft” option on wordpress. Do the evnts need to go live first before table view will display them?

Also, how can I format the table colors, line width, height, etc.? Is there a menu option to configure the look of the table shown?

Hi there,

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS] should display the standard event list, not a table.

Are you trying to output the table from Events Table View Template Add-on?

If so do you have that add-on installed and activated on the site? If yes you can use:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE category_slug=name]

Thank you Tony for your reply but this didn’t solve the problem. I do have the Events Table View Template Add-On. What I did is the following:
I created 2 events: SAT Workshop M717 and ACT Workshop M1317, both displayed as “Inactive” on the Even Espresso – Events > Overview tab. Each event I assigned it to a category, namely SAT Workshops and ACT Workshops. Following the documentation for the plugin, it says to insert the shortcodes on the page you would like to see the list of events displayed, so I used the shortcode specified in the document to list all events in a certain category, [ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE category_slug=sat-w-f17] but nothing is displayed on the page – it appears blank. On the category menu appears a different shortcode to display the events, [ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=sat-w-f17], and I tried that too but it doesn’t show any events.

That’s why I was also asking if the events had to be active, live online, for the events to display in table view because so far I’m working in draft mode (and I have not turned on maintenance mode), and the number under the column “Events” on the category menu is 0. I assume this number will change to 1 or whatever number of events I have active under that category. Is that why the events are not showing up?

I’m uploading several images describing this issue – imgs for the category view, event view, and page editor view.

My apologies, I should have included that within my reply.

The events do need to be published for them to be viewed on the event lists, tables etc.

You could ‘Privately Publish’ the events (set ‘Visibility’ to private in the publish section), that way only users that are logged into the site will view the events (it depends if you require login for your visitors if that will work for you).
