Registrations are good and are in the system. However, there is no notification going out to the registrant via email. We have a ton of failed messages

Hi there,

So in Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity, you see the messages and they all have a status of ‘failed’ (red status bar shown on the left)?

If so, click on the icon for one of the messages, does it show an error?

What settings are fine and what have you done to confirm they are fine?

EE doesn’t send email itself, it builds the emails out and passes them over to wp_mail() which does whatever your server is set up to do with the emails. When you get failed messages like this it is usually because wp_mail() returned an error, meaning it is outside of Event Espresso and not usually a setting you can check unless you control the mail server.

yes it does give an error

What is the error?

Message was not executed successfully.
Messenger and Message Type were valid and active, but the messenger send method failed.
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (jag@jagdigitalsvcs.com) or “from” address (info@dfwmidcitiesreia.com) is invalid.

I have access, to the email and admin Gsuite that it sits in… anything to check?

I’ve sent test emails on both sides of the to and from parties for one instance. Email is going through? No issues.

Should I delete all of the failed messages to clear it out?

The error message you are getting means the email was passed to wp_mail() as explained above and then wp_mail() returned false, meaning the email failed, but it doesn’t give any details as to why.

I have access, to the email and admin Gsuite that it sits in… anything to check?

How are you connecting your site to Gmail?

I’ve sent test emails on both sides of the to and from parties for one instance. Email is going through? No issues.

Did you send those test emails from your site? The reference to a valid to and from address is just an example, it does not mean the addresses are invalid.

Should I delete all of the failed messages to clear it out?

If they are listed as failed and not queued, then that isn’t going to help.

We haven’t changed anything in quite some time. We’ve been running EE for a year or better. So now I’m lost. We have a monthly event and a big push went out today. This kinda sticks

I was notified my assistant updated a venue and manually sent out batch notifications to about 75 registrants. Maybe we got spam blocked?

Maybe we got spam blocked?

Possibly yes.

Again, EE doesn’t have any control over the emails after it has triggered them and passed them over to your server, it’s at that point which the emails are failing.

How are you connecting your site to send email through Gmail? I’m guessing using the WP Mail SMTP plugin?

That’s the page builder your using within WordPress, but it doesn’t change anything with emails.

In the Dashboard, do you have a ‘WP Mail SMTP’ menu item?

Like this – https://monosnap.com/file/XK97qPJndt6F9ySIHfI9jhziSZTnZS

If so, in setting, do you have Gmail selected and the relevant details configured?

Okay sir, I just talk to my hosting platform. Mail service was turned off somehow since Jan 21 like 3:48 pm. There is a ticket open and will get that resolved. We are having registrations hit strong today so what is best practice to catch the previous registrations prior to today?

Great, I’m glad you found it.

This is why I asked which settings you checked, the above is completely outside of EE so I’m guessing were not checked earlier.

It depends on how many you need to trigger.

If it’s not a high number, you could use the resend registrations details action, it’s the icon in the ‘actions’ column of Event Espresso -> Registrations to resend their registration details.
