September 18, 2014 at 10:56 am I had not used my old EE3 website for a long time. When I decided to come back to EE and learned of the launch of EE4, I wanted to start with the new. There are several key features I used in EE3 that I decided to give up… so I could just grow with EE4. There are (however) some features that I didn’t realize EE4 didn’t include. The main one is the ability for my team to view the registration list. Now that I have created work around 4 and giving my team access to view the list is another work around that I have to get help with, I would like to go ahead and migrate back to EE3. Could you give me the recommended steps for doing so? I appreciate you guys! |
September 18, 2014 at 11:04 am Hello, Please contact sales through the email below to have your support license adjusted: sales [at] eventespresso.com Also, there is no migration path for EE4 back to EE3 as they have different coding and information is stored in different database tables. You will need to create your events over and along with other information such as your attendees. The Espresso events shortcode will also need to be restored: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-shortcodes-template-variables/#convert-ee3 — |

September 18, 2014 at 11:16 am There was a import feature in EE3 before. So you are saying I can’t export EE4 event information to import into ee3 at all? |
September 18, 2014 at 11:20 am Hi, There is not automated way to transfer your information from EE4 back to EE3. That import tool can still be used but you’ll need to manually populate the information in the CSV file. — |

September 18, 2014 at 11:31 am Yes, but how do I export all of my data from EE4. |
September 18, 2014 at 11:53 am Hi, There isn’t a universal “export” tool in Event Espresso 4. You can export events from Event Espresso 4 — however, that file cannot be read by Event Espresso 3. A migration path is available from EE3 to EE4 but not in the other direction. Again EE3 and EE4 have different codebases and store their information in different database tables so this task will need to be manually completed. — |

September 18, 2014 at 12:23 pm Ok… I’m trying NOT to get ticked off here. COME ON. I said I am transfering back. REGARDLESS Of whether I can import it into EE3 or NOT, I NEEEEEEED my data dump! How do I get it!? The big deal with EE is that it’s “your data”. So, with that being the case, how the hell do I get it out? I obviously do NOT Have all day to exchange with you! |
September 18, 2014 at 12:42 pm Hi Tammy, You’ll find step by step instructions on how to backup and export your data from your website, in our documentation: |

Wow, guys. I have ALREADY backed up my entire website. I don’t need a PHP file. I need my event/registration data. You know… in a CSV file that I can manipulate MANUALLY to IMPORT into ee3. OR… that I can use to re-enter my customers into the new system. Geesh. Am I speaking FRENCH HERE or do you guys just NOT want to help? I would think I could get some straight answers considering the ridiculousness it already is that you’ve successfully created an event system that cannot successfully produce a printable guest list. |
The guide Josh directed you to does not provide a PHP file, but an .sql file containing all of the data within your database. This is where your event data is stored. There is no ‘Export All Events’ feature within EE4 so if you would like a CSV of your events you’ll need to do each event manually. You do this via Event Espresso -> Events. Hover over the event name and then click ‘Export’ on the menu that appears – http://take.ms/djJo4 However, EE4 events are built up of many relationships to tickets, datetimes, questions, questions group etc (EE3 does not work in a similar way) so the CSV file you export will be much more complicated and contain much more data than the CSV for EE3, this data would need to be manually filtered and EE3 compatible CSV created, for each event. This export does not export Registrations, so the same would need to be done for the registration list, you can do this on a per event basis or through Event Espresso -> Registrations. Again those are vastly different. The export feature is not designed to export data from EE4 into EE3.
How would you like the guest list output? Currently you can export all of the registrations within an event containing all of the data for the attendees. To retrieve this go to Event Espresso -> Events -> Hover over the event name -> click registrations. This will show a list of the registrations for that event, at the bottom you’ll see ‘Registrations CSV Report’. |

The guide I directed you to will also let you export a CSV file as well. |
