Stop and restart Event Espresso License

Hi there, We are in a situation where we will need to shut down our business for an unknown period of time. With Event Espresso, can we let our account expire (our expiry date would be February 9, 2023). And then once we are able to start up again, could we start up our EE Premium license again and reconnect our EE account to our website? Would our past data reconnect again?

Hi there,

Firstly I’m sorry to hear the above, we never like hearing anyone is closing down

To answer your question, yes you can, but I think it’s important to highlight some details based on what you have asked.

Your license key is used for support and updates, we do not actually store any of your EE related data. The events, registrations, message, payment objects, templates etc are all stored within your sites own database and not within ours. We do not have any access to your event data and we can not backup/restore that data to/from your Event Espresso account as thats not how designed the EE plugin to work.

What that means is if you are completely closing down your site and no longer using the current host to keep the site going then you must remember to make a FULL site and database backup of your site before you close it down (and confirm that backup worked correctly). That is the only location where your Event Espresso plugin data is stored and we can’t get that back for you.

I mention that because of your closing question… if I simply say yes its way to assume that we have your event data on our servers and they’ll show up again when you input your license key. That isn’t the case, we don’t have any of that data so just wanted to make sure you were aware.
