State Field not showing up in contact information – EE4

I am using WordPress 4.2.2 w/Event Espresso 4.6.25.p

In my registration form I use both Question Groups for the Personal Information and Address Information that are standard in EE4. When someone registers the state field is there but it isn’t a drop down to choose the state. When the form is submitted it removes what is typed in and it puts UNKNOWN in the state information for the contact. Any ideas on how this can be fixed?

Hi Erick, thanks for getting started on troubleshooting. Could you provide a link to any event on your site. We would like to see if the state field is appearing during registration checkout.

Lorenzo,

That is the first thing I checked – both front & back end. Even if I do the registration as an admin on the back end it comes up UNKNOWN.

Hi it appears to be a text input and it should be a dropdown field.

Could you go to Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Countries. Then select United States. Are the states for the United States enabled (right side of screen)?

Lorenzo, thank for the quick response. Yes it is selected as US and for the drop down. In my Event Espresso – Edit Question # 7 (State field) it says:

Question Type Text
This field cannot be changed because there are currently answers for this question in the database

It appears that it was set for Text when I first installed EE4. I didn’t even know I could change it.

Hi Erick, we’ll need to confirm that it wasn’t replaced and we can switch it via the database if needed.
