Hi Lorenzo,

I have a similar multi-attendee registration situation in that I have a person registering for group and not attending the event. I need to collect information on that person as well as ask questions about the first attendee (such as t-shirt sizes). What I don’t want is confusing people with a blended series of questions listed under the first attendee, some about the contact person and while other questions are for the 1st attendee. Is there a way to have a group of questions asked prior to filling out info on the first attendee?

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter, I split your reply into its own support post. The original support post can be found here:

Questions groups which hold questions are currently set on a per-event basis. The minimum information that is needed is a name and an email and this is collected via the personal question group for an attendee/registrant.

These are collected at the time of registration and not before. Here is an example to illustrate.

A registrant registers for two tickets (pricing options) for event ABC.

This is what it will look like if the personal question group is set to required via the event editor:

Primary registrant
Personal question group
Custom question group

Additional registrant
Personal question group
Custom question group
Custom question group 2

If the personal question group is not required for additional registrants, then the additional information above will be linked to the primary registrant.

Hi Lorenzo,

After trying out the version 4 demo site, I understand how the questions will be laid out. What I’m looking for is some sort of option where I can ask one or a series of questions prior to gathering the registrant/attendee information.

Here’s real-world scenario I’m tasked to solve…

I’m the website designer for a company that organizes a well-established annual Golf Tournament. Several Executive Assistants (EA’s) from major corporations in Silicon Valley will be tasked with purchasing a sizable number (and $ amount) of Golf Tournament tickets (from our website) on behalf of the executives they answer to. Each EA will purchase between 4 and 10 tickets. Although the EA’s will be ordering tickets, they won’t be attending. Because the Golfers are high-profile execs, each EA will be the golf tournament organizer’s only person of contact for that particular group. Therefore, we need to gather the EA’s contact information if something happens.

To ensure that the registration UX will be friendly, and not confusing, I’d like to prompt the questions for the assistant’s contact info prior to the attendee questions. Is this possible? If not out of the box, can the php be customized via child theme to that? Or, is there some other type solution that you’d recommend?

Hi Peter,

This is something that we are actively looking into at the moment but there is nothing available currently to achieve it.

The questions cannot be easily moved about like that, I think the best possible solution would be to have each of the EA questions in a separate Question Group assigned only to the Primary attendee and then style that question group so that it stands out and differs from the rest. You might be able to swap the position with CSS, but that would be theme/site specific code.
