Hi Josh
I’ve not updated my clients site in over 1 year and it is running EE Version 4.9.46.p. We are also using the add on versions shown below.

We are also using Authorize.net for payments via the AIM echeck plugin below so will that continue working once Auth.net close that MD5 Hash feature or do I need to upgrade to the new Authorize.net Accept Payment Gateway plugin?

How is my upgrade path looking based on what you see below and what you know are in the changelogs over the past 14 months….. will just updating to latest versions break my site or nothing too major and *should* be ok?

thanks
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Auth.net AIM eCheck doesn’t use an MD5 Hashcheck so should function exactly the same way as it does now.

How is my upgrade path looking based on what you see below and what you know are in the changelogs over the past 14 months….. will just updating to latest versions break my site or nothing too major and *should* be ok?

Its impossible for us to answer a ‘will my site update without problems’ question with 100% certainty as we simply can not test every possible combination of plugins/themes with EE, also each and every update to a plugin/theme has the possibility to conflict with others.

What we can (and do) do is make sure we follow best practices and WP Standards within Event Espresso to try an minimise the chances of EE conflicting as best we can so as far as EE is concerned you should be ok to update.

Personally, what I would do is create a dev/staging environment and update the plugins there to confirm all works, then (all being well) do so on the live site.

May I ask which version of PHP is the server running?

That version should be fine, if PHP5 I’d have recommended updating to 7 but other than that I can’t think of any issues.

One thing to note is PHP7.0 is now end of life (EOL) so I’d recommend 7.1 or above at some point.
