Hello,

I have followed the documentation instruction on how to modify translations (translate with POEdit and put the .mo and .po files into \wp-content\uploads\espresso\languages).

I still see the original translation. I have even overwritten the original .mo file in \plugins\event-espresso-core-reg\languages. I was able to translate the vast majority but not the following (this means I followed the instructions right).

I am not able to translate :

– Please send this invoice with payment attached to the address above, or use the payment link below. Payment must be received within 48 hours of event date. (online and PDF invoice after checkout. I’d prefer removing it, I have edited invoice_body.template.php and invoice_content.template.php it does not work so if I can change the sentence to “-” for instance)

– After clicking ‘Finalize Registration’, you will be forwarded to PayPal website to Login and make your payment.

– Online invoice and PDF : %s*%s Taxable items. The total amount collected for taxes is reflected in the total(s) below. (and all strings of this category)

The translations I want to edit can’t be modified here :

Event Espresso –> Registration Form –> Question Groups
Event Espresso –> Registration Form –> Questions
Event Espresso –> Messages

I am able to find the strings I want to edit in POEdit but it does not work.

Thank you

Tony

Please send this invoice with payment attached to the address above, or use the payment link below. Payment must be received within 48 hours of event date.

Those are the PDF payment method instructions.

Go to: Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Invoice (activate it you don’t have activated) -> Instructions.

(online and PDF invoice after checkout. I’d prefer removing it, I have edited invoice_body.template.php and invoice_content.template.php it does not work so if I can change the sentence to “-” for instance)

Please do not edit core files, there is almost never any reason to do so. The output from EE can usually be filtered, editable within the admin, or custom templates can be loaded in place of the originals. Editing core files will prevent us from providing support for EE.

– After clicking ‘Finalize Registration’, you will be forwarded to PayPal website to Login and make your payment.

That’s the payment method Description field. Assuming you are using PayPal Express, go to:

Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> PayPal Express – http://take.ms/cN8wJ

– Online invoice and PDF : %s*%s Taxable items. The total amount collected for taxes is reflected in the total(s) below. (and all strings of this category)

You can edit that string in the admin, it’s not part of the Invoice but the Receipt.

Go to: Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message templates -> Receipt.

In the ‘Main Content’ section – http://take.ms/u6BEE

(Or if you have the trnaslation in the MO file, click the ‘reset templates’ button on that page, it will regenerate the message and use the current translations.

(and all strings of this category)

I’m not sure what this means?

The translations I want to edit can’t be modified here :
Event Espresso –> Registration Form –> Question Groups
Event Espresso –> Registration Form –> Questions
Event Espresso –> Messages
I am able to find the strings I want to edit in POEdit but it does not work.

All of the strings you seem to be having problems with are the strings that are translated only on activation. When EE is activated it sets up payment methods, messages and various other sections. The strings within those sections are translated at that time and save to the database.

If you edit the PO/MO files to translate those strings they won’t apply later as the strings have been saved to the database, the translations can no apply to those.
