We have discovered an intermittent problem with only some individuals being unable to register for an event. This has been happening only recently, possibly since January 2017. A couple of individuals have identified they got a message “action is not allowed.” These events are free, so there is no payment processing action.
Versions: EE 4.9.37p, WordPress 4.7.4

Hi there,
The “action is not allowed” error is the result of running the “WP-SpamShield” plugin. It appears that legitimate registration form submissions are getting blocked by that plugin. The WP-SpamShield plugin has an option to disable spam blocking for “miscellaneous” forms:

Disabling anti-spam for miscellaneous forms may help, but it may also be good to contact the developer of WP-SpamShield for help.
