Hi, my site is not receiving notifications from PayPal’s IPN. Transactions complete on PayPal but the show as “Incomplete” in the EE attendees list. I have verified: –That EE is updated to the most recent version; I have disabled a firewall plugin which could possibly have interfered with these notifications–although I have no proof of that. I have installed the minimal “transaction page” template you offer and set the transaction page to use it. I have then tried re-sending IPNs to no avail. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks! Hi Alden, What is the status of some of the recent IPN notifications that you resent? https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/ipn/integration-guide/IPNOperations/ We are looking for one of these: http://cl.ly/1l1b0O3i311r PayPal will attempt to notify you when the IPN is failing. Have you received any emails like this? Also, on some security plugins, they continue to have their security rules in place even if they have been temporarily deactivated. Could you re-enable the security plugin and then temporarily switch those firewall options off and then save changes? Then go ahead and deactivate it. — |

Hi Lorenzo, Thank you so much for your prompt reply. First off, I’ve done some further tests and new purchases are now sending IPNs correctly and showing as “complete”, so I guess my issue is resolved for now. In PayPal, my “re-sent” IPNs show the status “Sent”, but the old payments on the website still show as “incomplete”. I’m going to just update them by hand—there aren’t that many. I’m guessing it was something to do with the Firewall (All In One WP Security and Firewall) but I’m not sure. For what it’s worth, I did switch off the Firewall features as you suggested before deactivating, but that doesn’t seem to have any effect on the resending of IPNs. Another possibility: My client doesn’t have an SSL certificate, and PayPal was displaying an “insecure form” warning before auto-returning customers to our “thank you” page after the purchase. I wonder if most aborted their return to our site and if that could have prevented the IPN from coming in? (I’m advocating moving to SSL going forward…) I appreciate your help, and I’ll get back in touch if this issue persists. Thanks again, Alden |
Hi Alden, Were you previously using an older version of Event Espresso 3 when this occurred or did this recently happen while you were using an up to date version of Event Espresso 3? Resending the IPNs should have updated those existing registration to paid (complete). — |
