is there no way to display a single event on a basic wordpress page using a shortcode?

all i get is a view details button and a ton of padding. this is not a solution.

Within the event editor for the event id you set within the shortcode, do you have the ‘Display Ticket Selector’ option set to No within the ‘Event Registrations Options’ section – http://take.ms/vDYz6

It should display something once that “Display Ticket Selector” option is set to Yes.
