We recently had a bug in which customers paying for tickets for a specific date and event using paypal results in some users seeing an error message upon completing payment and multiple extra unwanted tickets are assigned to the user which are market “pending payment”.
I haven’t been able to narrow down a cause for this any further than the correlation between dates and events, there doesn’t appear to be any special or unusual characters in this event’s title or ticket names that would cause encoding errors, so I’m checking in here to see if a similar bug has been encountered before. The event is now sold out, so it’s not a crucial the problem be fixed immediately but I’d prefer not have it happen again in the future.
Hi, sorry for the delay getting back. It turns out we’ve had the same issue on another event now, a customer was assigned extra tickets and told there was an error with the payment, despite the tickets they actually requested being successfully paid for. Once again the payment was made with Paypal.
Our web host is Rochen, it does have the option for php caching but we currently have that disabled. We also use W3 Total Cache within WordPress, but we’ve set a list of no-cache pages as per the EE instructions.
The strange part here is that it sounds like your registrations have additional registrations assigned to them:
some users seeing an error message upon completing payment and multiple extra unwanted tickets are assigned to the user which are market “pending payment”.
The payment error is likely related to whatever is causing the additional registrations. Can you post a screenshot of an example of this?
Your host is all cloud based, does it use any form of load balancers?
Is memcached enabled?
It sounds like something may be breaking the sessions EE is using.
