hello –
We have been using Event Espresso for a few years under a different account and now have purchased new licensing for additional new sites. What is the recommended way to set up one of our new sites as an exact copy of another? We do not have any registration data and such that we need to move over. Our current site is truepointevents.com and it is using EE4. We have previously paid for customer support to modify some of the Iced Mocha template for this site. I would like to know have this identical set-up moved to a different url/site that will also have an EE4 license. Do I need to simply recreate everything manually so there are no hiccups – or can I somehow just copy things over?

Thank you!
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

In terms of Event Espresso there aren’t any necessary steps needed to copy over other than you may need to request a key reset from your account page.

If the new site is to be an exact duplicate of the current site (just with a different domain) I would recommend using a plugin such as Duplicator which allows you to create a ‘package’ and ‘installer’ from your current site, then upload those to your new site directory and follow the instructions.

There are multiple plugins that allow you to do this in a similar way.

The only problem you may have is that both sites would use the same key for a short time, would would then trigger an error preventing auto updates (as a key can only be active on a single domain) however you can request a reset on your license keys from your account page.

You could remove the key before creating the Duplicator (or similar) package, create the package and reinstall the key on you original site, that way your new site will be created with no key, that make sense?

There are multiple ways to do this, it just depends on how much data you need to transfer as to whether you create a duplicate and amend, or start from scratch, manually copy the needed files and re-create.
