Hi, I can’t work out if this is an EE plugin query or a theme issue. My sidebar is not showing on my events page, nor is any other information i’ve placed on there to feature above the events listings.
I’ve set the sidebar to feature on the archives page and have nominated sidebar for the events page, but it’s not featuring. Does this seem like something you can comment on, or perhaps have encountered before?

Hi,

I’m assuming from your licence type that this is with EE4?

EE4 uses custom post types, so the sidebar should show as normal. This could be a theme issue, if the theme doesn’t take Custom Post Types into consideration.

Can you provide a link to a page/event where this issue is occurring please?

Hi there,

The EE /events/ page, is not actually a page, it is and archive and therefore uses your themes archive.php template to display the list of events.

I’ve set the sidebar to feature on the archives page

How have you done this?

and have nominated sidebar for the events page,

You have an ‘events’ page within Dashboard -> Pages and have selected to use the sidebar on that page? Is that correct?

nor is any other information i’ve placed on there to feature above the events listings.

Is this within the page I mentioned above?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
re: set the sidebar to feature on the events page – my theme allows users to build unique sidebars, and you assign them to pages you want to feature them on.
I’ve also nominated the archives page to feature a sidebar via global settings.

re: events’ page within Dashboard -> Pages and have selected to use the sidebar on that page
I have assigned the sidebar to appear on the ‘events’ page. I built a page, called it events and assigned content left, sidebar right.
Yes, I have an events page within the dashboard
and no other information that i’ve put on that page that i built is featuring on this ‘;events’ page.
thanks for any further help you can give

Hi,
I have One more question, and again, i’m not sure if this is a theme or a plugin question. can i change the breadcrumb to read events not archive?

I worked out the solution to my sidebar query within that last email, when you reminded me the events feature on an archive page, not as a page. main sidebar now featuring.

thanks

Hi,

Having a Page called Events (with the slug events) will cause problems as EE uses the /events/ archive. So you may want to rename that pages slug (screenshot http://take.ms/B8AlQ )

The breadcrumb is down to the theme so you may want to speak to the theme support about that.
