Hello, At that time it seems that EE developers planned the feature that for tax inclusive amounts (gross prices) EE would automatically calculate out the base price and the tax amount. My expectation: Is my expectation incorrect? Thanks, Thomas |
Hi Thomas, That’s actually not correct because if “this ticket is taxable” is not checked, then no VAT is applied. Put another way: The VAT amount set in tax settings is only applied if the checkbox is checked. |

Okay, I see. Is this on the way or are there still plans to get this offered by a standard EE functionality? Thanks, Thomas |
Hi Thomas, There is a setting in Event Espresso > Pricing > Tax Settings where you can set “Show Prices with Taxes Included?” to Yes or No. With regards to a new feature where EE would automatically calculate out a base price, they still want to add this but it will require a refactor of the current ticket editor. |

Hi Josh, |
That’s because “this ticket is taxable” is not checked. If you check the box next to “This ticket is taxable” you will not need to edit the invoice. If you want to edit the invoice anyway, you go to Event Espresso > Messages > Default Message Templates, then edit the Invoice message type. |

Thanks Tony, Our ticket prices should be like 70,- or 840,- already including taxes, so I have set “Show Prices with Taxes Included?” to “Yes”. Activating “This ticket is taxable” converts a round and sound ticket price of 840,- into 999,60, so it adds the 19% VAT to the ticket price (although “Show Prices with Taxes Included?” is set to to “Yes”). In fact I already tried to use the PHP code snippet from the old forum post mentioned above in the respective table row of the Default Message Template/Invoice/Customer/Main Content. But it seems that PHP is not allowed there, and the code gets displayed in the generated PDF invoice. Thanks, Thomas |
It might help to explain that Event Espresso’s price inputs are not tax inclusive. So if there’s a tax involved (inclusive or not inclusive) you need to input the price not including tax. e.g. If the already including tax price is $840, where the already included tax rate is 19%, you input $705.88 for the price. No you would need to make a shortcode (using PHP) |
