Hi there,

The /events/ listing does not include expired events by default however you can include them by navigating to:

Event Espresso -> Events -> Templates.

Within that section you’ll see an event list section, there you can set if expired events are displayed there – http://take.ms/RdX3O

i saw something about messages being sent via WP mail? not sure what that means?

wp_mail() is a function within WordPress itself, it basically builds out the email so that it is in an the expected format and passes the email over to your sever to send the email.

One thing to note is that Event Espresso sends the emails on a sort of schedule system and not instantly. If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages you will see a list of message activity.

Take a look at the messages shown there, do they show as sent (green bar on the left)?

1. expired events.. ok thank you that worked but they show at top .. is there any way to show the active ones first? then inactive ones lower down?

2. I clicked Event “Espresso -> Messages” and all i see are “message templates”, under “settings” i do see they are “active” to be sent..

Hello,

You can create a new WP page and then use this shortcode to show the newest events first:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS sort=DESC show_expired=true]

Then you can add that page to your website’s navigation to replace the default /events/ slug.

A blue status strip next to a message means it is pending to be sent. A green one means it has been sent out. What are the statuses for the most recent messages?

Could you share a screenshot (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#screenshots)?

1. got it.. this doesnt really work b/c the active events now show in descending order.. we want the most upcoming event shown first….
can it be done in 2 shortcode..? first show active ones in ASC, then ONLY expired in ASC?

We don’t currently have a shortcode that will show only expired events so this would need to be custom coded.

Your using an older version of Event Espresso that does not include the messages activity list. You currently have 4.8.33 but the latest version is 4.9.7.p, can you update to the latest version and retest this please.
