I have a number of small questions that have to do with how I configure Event Espresso. Here is my current list:

Event List
• How do I take a deposit on an event and register a partial payment?
• I want to display venue details (and map) when the user clicks “View Details” but not on the main list. How do I do that?
• The Event Espresso – Events menu display order doesn’t work – cannot drag or click
• The “Archives: Events” line adds no value – it just takes up space
• Comments – how do I turn them off?
• Can I get a simple list of events in table form (like the summary in the dashboard)?

Prospect Management:
I have hundreds of people I want to manage as prospects. I have a MailChimp account and want to send Event Promotion messages to them. They are located in different areas, so I want to be able to filter by area (tag or category?).
• Can EE handle this?
• Can people have multiple roles?
• How to import prospects from a spreadsheet?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll follow up with each of your questions below:

• How do I take a deposit on an event and register a partial payment?

There are a few ideas you can try in this guide:
https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/c49bda15961f9f7d19ab

• I want to display venue details (and map) when the user clicks “View Details” but not on the main list. How do I do that?

There’s a setting in Event Espresso > Events > Templates that lets you control the venue details there on the list. I’ve gone ahead and changed this for you.

• The Event Espresso – Events menu display order doesn’t work – cannot drag or click

May I ask where is it that you’re trying to change the menu order? Which items are you trying to re-order?

• The “Archives: Events” line adds no value – it just takes up space

That’s actually added by your WordPress theme. I’ve hidden it by adding some CSS to your Custom CSS editor.

• Comments – how do I turn them off?

You can turn off comments within the event editor page’s Discussion box. You uncheck the box next to Allow comments. You can use this plugin to turn off comments everywhere on the site.

• Can I get a simple list of events in table form (like the summary in the dashboard)?

Yes, you already have the Events Table template add-on installed so you can add the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE] to any WordPress page/post. There’s more information in this guide published here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/events-table-view-template-add-on/

I have hundreds of people I want to manage as prospects. I have a MailChimp account and want to send Event Promotion messages to them.
Can EE handle this?

No EE doesn’t have that type of functionality if they’re not already registered as attendees for an event. You should be able to use MailChimp to manage and send messages to lists and groups.

Josh,

Thanks!

The “Display Order” problem shows up on the Espresso Events – Events -> Templates tab. I cannot drag any of the items and the up or down arrows do nothing.
There is no error message showing up in the Chrome Developer Console.

Hi Bob,

There’s actually an option that’s just above where you change the display order that lets you switch that feature on/off. So before you can start rearranging the order of the items, you need to set Use Custom Display Order? to Yes.
