Trying to put “file” in image_default_link_type and it says its saved but shows nothing in the field. So still have an issue trying to upload my featured image.
Please advise.

Hello,
I’m not sure where you are making this change. Could you provide more information?
Also, what happens when you try to upload and attach a featured image? Does it show an error or does it just not display?

When I upload an image nothing happens. Following instructions per this post:

I’ve been able to upload images in the past, but not exactly sure when it stopped working.

Hi lforeman,
Can you tell me which version of WordPress are you currently running please?
You can usually find this located on the bottom right of the Dashboard.
The ‘image_default_link_type’ option can be overridden through any plugin or theme running on the site.

Whilst you aren’t running an extremely outdated version of WordPress, I would still advise updating to the latest version.
Almost any the sites plugins and or the theme may be running something similar to this code:
update_option('image_default_link_type','');
What that does it update that option on each page load. So as you set it, that code runs and sets it back.
There are reasons for setting this option to none (basically it forces your images to link back to the post it was assigned to)
When you upload an image, if you first click the the ‘File URL’ button then after that click ‘Insert Into Post’ – http://take.ms/MmXQG
Does the image then correctly load within the event?
