Is there still no way set a default state on forms? https://eventespresso.com/topic/set-a-default-state-in-registration-form/
I would think a substantial number of folks cater to local or primarily their state. Any repercussion to just creating a new dropdown list for states?

Hi,
The downside of just creating a new dropdown list for states is the answer to that new dropdown will not be mapped to the State field for the contact.
What you could do instead is add a bit of jQuery to the page (via a hook), which will automatically select the state. I can put together a little code snippet for you. May I ask which state do you want the form to default to?
