Hi, have been looking through the forum and found the following links, in our case Our address is in Australia and would like to keep it that way for invoices etc.. and would like to use GBP as the default currency.

https://eventespresso.com/topic/change-currency/

https://eventespresso.com/topic/default-currency-should-be-pound-instead-of-dollar/

Any updates on achieving this?

Hi Ian,

The first link applies to EE3, the second has a little info for EE4.

However with EE4 it is possible to set your country to use which ever currency you prefer.

Go to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Countries (tab)

Select Australia within the dropdown, you’ll now see a list of options within Country details.

You can setup the country to use whichever currency you prefer by changing the settings there – http://take.ms/d4Vcw

Take a look at the UK settings and match the currency settings within AUS there to tell EE to use those values.

So does this mean that if I have Events say in Hong Kong, and I want to charge in USD can I do the same thing?

Our biggest Hurdle is not being able to use multiple currencies for events around the world.

Eg: Australia, Charge in AUD
Hong Kong / Dubai / Europe / USA charge in USD
Uk charge in GBP

In this case we are using other carts for AUD and USD so GBPO would be the default currency.

The other hurdle we have is payment plans, we have been forced to use cart66 cloud for the Australian payments and paypal for others because we need payment plans as an option.

Is multiple currencies and Payment plans far away for EE? Eg. 4 payments of $100 at a 7 day interval then payment stops.

Hope this makes sense

Ian

Yes but it is set per install, the organization settings apply across all events within your install.

So if you have Hong Kong as your Organization address it would use that address and whichever currency you have setup for the country.

So just to be clear, it does not allow you to have specific events changing in different currencies but all of you event using X country but using Y currency (Y being a currency different from the devault)

We are currently working on other areas of the plugin so neither of those features will be included ‘soon’ without sponsorship.

Multiple currencies is a lot more complicated than it sounds.

As are payment plans but they could be added a little easier using something like Stripe. Stripe allows you to create payment plans within Stripe itself so with some custom development the payment method could assign events to payment plans within Stripe, however it would also need to track the payments and store them within the EE transaction which makes it a little more in depth.
