Our ticket site was released to a subscriber group (appx. 25 people clicked through to the site) a few days ago and the server ground to a halt within a few minutes. We upped the server’s ram to 2gb (from 512mb) and did some stress tests using “ab” from a terminal (and loading a ticket-selector page). A concurrence of 10 (100 times) brought the server to max almost immediately and the test aborted after 84 times (server refused connection).
In the coming weeks we’re looking at visitors coming in peaks up to 1000 so I need to see if there’s something big I’m missing in terms of efficiency – or is something not correct..?

We have sold some tickets so everything seems to be functioning from start to finish, it’s just using a lot of resources.
I’ve been looking through various WP optimizing ideas and it looks like converting the tables to MyISAM from InnoDB would help some.

I can’t publish the url for our site here yet, but could pm it to support.

This EE4 installation was installed as 4.4.3 and has not been upgraded.
WP was installed as 4.0.

WP- 4.0
EE4 – 4.4.3
no installed add-ons
other WP plug-ins: wpMandrill, Site plugin for xxxx.xxxxxxx.com (site not available to public yet)
theme – modified twentytwelve

Hi Ross,

You can use this form to send further details:

Have you tried disabling all non-EE plugins and retesting?

hi Tony,
I disabled wpMandrill (the only non-EE plug activated) and it made no change to performance that I could see.

login details sent…

Hi Ross,

What kind of hosting is this?

In your initial reply you mention you updated the servers RAM from 512MB to 2GB, how did you do this?

Looking through the Event Espresso System information tab (Event Espresso -> Maintenance Mode -> System Information) you’ll find the memory limit is set to 128MB with suhostin.

Start by adding WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to your wp_config.php file, more info available here:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

You may also need to modify your php.ini to increase the limit mentioned above.

Looking through the site I can’t see any obvious reason for the slow down. We do have users using EE4 for high volume events and have had no problems in doing so, so currently I suspect this is a server configuration issue.
