Event reminders can be achieved within Event Espresso 4 although they are not completely automated in that you need to manually select the attendees, select the email you would like to use (which can use shortcodes to dynamically add data) and send the email to those attendees.
Currently you can not schedule the reminders to automatically send X amount of days before the event, however this could be done using the MailChimp Add-on and creating a campaign to be used as a Reminder instead.
