I want to send the attendees a payment reminder. I want to use one of the email templates for that purpose.

So I go into attendees, check a few of them and click on “Send Batch Message (1 selected)”.
The only template I can choose in the following drop down is “global”. I actually expected that in this drop down menu all email templates would be listed.

As a work around I could try to modify “global” to meet my needs and look like a payment reminder. But I didn’t understand what “global” is and where I can find it. It’s not listed under email templates.

Btw: The German translation is really bad. Like google made it. In most cases it doesn’t make any sense.

Maybe I should’ve asked this way:
How can I make use of an email template? How can I send an email to any of my attendees using one of the email templates?
I’m not asking for any automization.

Hi there,

There is already a Payment Reminder message type that can be used for this.

A quick explanation on message types and templates….

Each message type within EE4 has its own set of templates and each message type will only allow you to use the templates created for that specific message type.

The batch email messages use the ‘newsletter’ message type so to create a custom template you can either go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages.

Find the newsletter message type and click create custom – http://take.ms/g7l3u

That will create a custom message template for the Newsletter, provide a meaningful name and make any amendments you want to the message.

That custom message template will then be shown within the ‘Custom Message Template’ tab within the messages. You can return to that message template and edit it any time from there.

Once you have a custom message template you can then select it within the dropdown when sending your batch email.

However, as mentioned EE already has a payment reminder email that can be used, you can also create a custom payment reminder for each event if you prefer.

Edit the event you want to create a custom payment reminder for, scroll to the bottom and find the ‘Notifications’ section – http://take.ms/bISQi

Click to create a custom payment reminder and provide a meaningful name and description – http://take.ms/X1UVg

EE will create a new message template and assign it to the payment reminder for that event. If you click the edit button you’ll open a new tab that allows you to edit the message.

If you then view the transaction for a registration (you can do that from the registration view by clicking the txn date) – http://take.ms/FGLif

You’ll see a ‘Send Payment Reminder’ button – http://take.ms/ejiaYK

However you can not currently send the payment reminder email in a batch. So you’ll need to manually trigger that message for each registration.

As a work around I could try to modify “global” to meet my needs and look like a payment reminder. But I didn’t understand what “global” is and where I can find it. It’s not listed under email templates.

The global template is the message template shown within Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates.

That lists all of the ‘global’ templates (the default message template used for all events)
