Test driving the EE4 demo and trying to find a way to have a date picker for a particular event (there are four dates the user can pick from). Is this possible? I searched the forums, but can’t see admin answers. |
Hi Chris, How are you today? How are you trying to use the date picker, I don’t quite understand whether you’re trying to use it to select event dates or for answers to questions. If you’re using the date selector for selecting date, then Event Espresso works just a little differently. Event Espresso organizes events into single datetimes with start and end dates, and capacity limits. (We are testing the addition of allowing you to add titles/names and descriptions to datetimes too.) Then each datetime can have one or multiple tickets assigned to that individual datetime. So, if you want people to choose whether they can attend one out of multiple datetimes then you should create multiple datetimes and then one (or multiple) tickets that are associated with one datetime. You can also create tickets that have access to more than one datetime. Does that help? If you’re using the datepicker as a question type, then the attendee selects the date as the answer, and that answer is available in the registration record. Does that help? |

Sorry, hopefully this will help: I have an event that will have multiple dates and times (think of a movie with different showing times). I want the end user to be able to pick, from a drop down list, which one they want to attend and then register for that time. Currently, in the demo that I set up, I have the dates and times (I set up four different dates), but it shows the ones that are after the next one as upcoming rather than selectable entries. Hopefully that makes more sense. |
The datetime when someone can purchase tickets are controlled by the start/end datetimes on the ticket. Make a ticket for each datetime and choose the dates when you want each date time to be available for sale. The drop-down UI is based on ticket quantity not choosing a date. Does that make sense? |

Hey Garth, Yeah, while you were replying I figured out what you meant about the ticketing. I think this will work. The only issue is if it’s a Webinar (for instance), can each date ticket generate a unique email with a log in code? So, if people register for a March 10 date, they will get an email with the passcode (it doesn’t have to be unique for each registrant, but needs to be unique to the event/ticket) for the March 10th date, if they register for the April 2, they will get the passcode for the April 2 date (and so on). Thanks for your help so far! |
Hi Chris, Right now we do not have custom messages per ticket type. If you need that granular of control it might necessitate creating separate events with only one datetime and one ticket. Does that make sense? I’ll create a ticket for us to consider a few other ways that we can accommodate your request in future iterations. We have some ideas, just nothing ready yet. |
