I am trying to set up 1 user with RO access to all events and registration details SO I have added an account under WordPress users called u_test as a subscriber ive installed members v2.2.0 plugin then ive added a new role called u_test with the below permissions and assigned this role to user u_test General – Read – GRANT when i login with u_test all i can see is Dashboard any ideas what else i need to configure please to get this working? Also once an event is closed is there anyway to automatically email the registration list to someone? thanks |
Hi Sue, I’m guessing the u_test user isn’t assigned as the author for any of these events, is that right? The way I would do this is to use something like this: https://monosnap.com/file/qUKeT73ASIAzTRUNX6Hlb1J59vMWgz That plugin adds 2 new roles, an ‘Event Organizer’ role (which only has access to events they are set as the author on) and an ‘Events Manager’ role (which has the same access as an admin does to Event Espresso but not other sections of your dashboard. (You activate the plugin and can then remove it) You likely want to use ‘Events Manager’ if you don’t want to set the user as the author and then edit the role to remove all of the caps that are not The reason I recommend doing it this way is it is easier to have the sections on display and remove a capability to confirm it does what you want, than it it to start from scratch and build out the caps yourself. |

Hi Tony |

also Tony —– once an event is closed is there anyway to automatically email the registration list to someone? |
No, sorry I should have explained further. The .zip I sent you is actually a plugin, you can install it on your site in: Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin. Select the .zip file you just downloaded (if your browser automatically extracted it you’ll need to rezip it to upload to the site). When you activate it, it adds 2 new roles to your site, ‘Event Organizer’ and ‘Event Administrator’ which you can then edit to suit using a plugin like user role editor. So you can add it to the site and set the user to one of those roles, then change the capabilities on the role to suit. You could copy the roles to your custom role if preferred, but you’ll still need to edit them to suit as we don’t have a ‘read only’ example. The above allows you to open an incognito window in chrome (or something similar like a private window in Firefox) and log into the u_test user in that window. Then in your main window select the capabilities on the role you want the user to have and refresh the incognito window to see the effects. |

awesome thanks Tony – i have installed the plug in and will now duplicate the event manager role and set the permissions and test. One question i did ask was any way to email someone once an event closes please – so not the editor or author of the event but the person hosting the event? |
Event Espresso doesn’t have the option to send an email so you would need something custom from a developer for the above. Whilst I haven’t tried it and I don’t know if will work for your request, another user mentioned they used Better Notifications for WP which may be able to do this for you. |
