Hi,

is there an option to reset just the invoices plus transactions? So all the other data will stay in EE4?

Hello,

Are you wanting to reset the invoice to its original styling / layout or are you asking about removing any existing transaction information?

If this is related to styling / layout, then that can be done through the messages editor while viewing the invoice. There is a reset option in the top right area of the screen and it will ask you to confirm. Note that this removes any existing customizations for the invoice message type.

Removing transaction information altogether isn’t available as this information is connected to registrants and those registrants are connected to events.

If this is related to some test registrations, then here are the steps to remove that information manually. A transaction can be removed by trashing and permanently deleting the registration.

Here is an overview of the process from your WP dashboard.

1) Go to Transactions and click on a specific transaction for a registration that you are trying to remove.

2) Scroll to the payments area and delete the payment and confirm.

Here is an example of what the payments area looks like:

Repeat the step above for any other transactions.

3) From here, you can go to the Registrations overview screen and trash and permanently delete the registrants.

Dear Lorenze, thank you for the answer. The problem is that we would like to start invoicing from 1 again. Hence, my question to reset all invoices. But we want to keep all other data as it is.

You mean by: “Removing transaction information altogether isn’t available as this information is connected to registrants and those registrants are connected to events.” that it is not possible?

The Invoice ID is the transaction ID so you can not reset the Invoice ID to 1 and keep all of the other registration data in the system.

We currently do not have an option to remove all of the registrations and transaction data but leave the events but we do have an option to reset EE back to default so you can start again (not that all EE data and settings will be removed if that option is used).

thx for the confirmation. I did this indeed in the test website. I found out via the WordPress extra you can easily import the venues and events again. However, this seems to be all. Is it somewhere written wat other data will be reset? It looks to me also the add-ons are not working properly anymore.

You got any tips on what not to forget by getting it all back? Many thanks in advance.

I found out via the WordPress extra you can easily import the venues and events again.

Importing Venues may work but it’s unlikely importing Events will, none of the importers create the datetimes, tickets and various relationships within an event.

Is it somewhere written wat other data will be reset?

All EE data will be reset. Events, registrations, transactions, messages, settings, etc. The reset function basically drops all EE tables and recreated them as if EE was just activated.

It looks to me also the add-ons are not working properly anymore.

What is not working?

You got any tips on what not to forget by getting it all back? Many thanks in advance.

My apologies but I’m not sure what this means, can you explain further?

importing venues = OK
importing events = OK (but we do need to create the tickets, date/time plus some other small things indeed)

I already did the reset so I see what is gone 🙂 Quite some settings remained actually. I thought some addons did not function properly but these are OK, it was something in the theme that caused a difference.

Tips I meant that if you have some kind of check list what to do once you reset EE4. However, I made one myself (but it is in Dutch)

thx for clarifying though

hi Tony,

On our live website I reset EE4. I imported the events and venues. I copied all customized data back. I did this in our dev area as well. Now the problem is that we got one registration yesterday the day after I set it live again but with number 4.

I tested it and there I had number 1. How come it is number 4 in the live version?

The ID is 4 because there are some incomplete registrations, quite likely with the IDs 1-3. You can click on the link that says “Incomplete” to view those.

alright, and if I trash them they will be out of the system?

If you trash them they’ll get moved to the trash bin. Once they are in the trash bin you can permanently delete them from the system.

and what about the counting? In our case the number 1, 2, 3 will be replaced by new ones?

The same applies to the transaction ID’s?

No the IDs will count going forward.
